Artist's Statement |
“My prime concern is to capture the spirit, character and personality of the sitter and the expression in the eyes. I like to work directly from life to establish a relationship, which I believe is crucial for a profound likeness to develop.” |
Statement |
“I like to work directly from life although I can also work from material provided if necessary. I work quite fast, usually requiring approximately four sittings of a maximum two to three hours each. Sitters have ranged in age from one to ninety-nine and portraits have on occasion included a family pet or two. Although the completed commission does not come framed, I am happy to carry out framing or offer advice on request.” |

Press Quotes |
“Having a portrait drawn or painted may be more time-consuming but you then have an invaluable work of art to pass down to future generations – provided you choose a good artist of course… Mim Hain paints portraits in oil and pastels and also creates vivid collages to create fluid and lively portraits of a particularly vibrant quality.”
— Yvonne Thomas, Homes & Gardens Magazine
