Artist's Statement |
I have always had a fascination for all buildings of different styles and periods, with how they fit into their landscape/surroundings, with a keen interest in their details and how they evolve through many generations. These factors combined with the quirkiness that one often finds in old buildings are what gives them character, in my opinion. My preference is to draw with a brush, when painting in oils, and to build up the picture in layers, to achieve depth and to capture the character of the architecture. |
Statement |
I like to work from sketches and my own photographs, to work out the composition, to get a feeling for the building and to obtain lots of detail (good quality photographs provided by clients will also be acceptable). All paintings will be produced from my studio and a meeting or discussion with the client is helpful to understand their requirements, prior to starting a commission.
