Introduction |
Originally from Montreal, I attended McGill University and went on to teach art in northern Ontario. I came to London to do further study and worked extensively in watercolours and ceramics, specializing in finely thrown porcelain vessels which have been widely exhibited here and abroad.
With the children becoming more independent, I was able to pursue my love of painting at Heatherleys and became fascinated by the rich world of portraiture. |

Artist's Statement |
In portraiture, it is essential to capture not only the outer likeness but also the inner essence of the person. In doing so, I try to incorporate my love of colour and texture into the exciting process of bringing someone to life on the canvas. |
Statement |
Instead of a long series of sittings, I use one session backed up with photographs for reference. This allows me to capture the sitter with a lively expression at a defining moment.
It can be in a favourite setting, a place of work or play, or accompanied by a pet.
The portrait takes about a month to complete. |
