Introduction |

I grew up in a family of artists, starting to draw and paint seriously from 12 and attending life drawing classes through my teens.
In 2000 I graduated in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins school of Art and in 2002 received a scholarship to study portraiture at Heatherley's school of Fine Art. |

Artist's Statement |
|
My aim is to capture the sitter's personality through sound draughtsmanship and detailed observation to achieve a strong, lively and subtle image.
The relationship between myself and the sitter involves careful listening on my part so that I understand exactly what each person is looking for in their portrait. |
|
Statement |
|
At the initial meeting I get to know the sitter and we discuss ideas. At this stage it is also useful to meet the sitter in their surroundings.
Subsequent meetings take place in my London studio with preferably a minimum of five sittings.
I prefer to work the entire portrait from life if time allows. Photographs are also sometimes necessary as reference. |
